Reversi in a minute

Reversi is a two-player game on an 8×8 board. Place a disc to trap lines of your opponent's discs between it and another of yours, and every trapped disc flips to your colour.

  1. Players take turns placing one disc on a legal square.
  2. A legal move must trap at least one line of opponent discs.
  3. Every trapped disc flips to your colour.
  4. When neither player can move, the player with more discs wins.

Corners can never be flipped, so they are worth more than they look, and edges, mobility and stable discs usually matter more than an early lead in discs. The full rules cover passing and the end of the game.

What's at the table

The room has what two players need, so nobody has to set up a separate call or keep score on paper.

Invite in one tap

Share or copy the room link from the board. Your friend joins from their own browser, with no account.

See each other while you play

Start a video call from the table and each camera sits beside its player. Cameras are optional.

Chat and quick emoji

In a private room, send a message or a reaction without leaving the board.

Legal moves shown

On your turn the board marks every square you can play, and captured lines flip on their own.

Every move on record

Open History at any point to read back the moves of the current game.

A running score

The scorecard keeps each finished game and the match score, and Restart Game sets up the next board.

Before you play

Can I play Reversi with one friend?

Yes. Start a private two-player game and share the invite link. Optional video chat can stay beside the board.

Can I practise Reversi against AI?

Yes. Solo mode gives you a computer-controlled opponent whenever you want a quick practice game.

Is Reversi the same as Othello?

The two names are commonly used for the same disc-flipping game. This version plays on the familiar 8×8 board.

Do I need an account or an app?

No. Open the game in a modern browser, choose a name and start playing.

Is it free?

Yes. Private rooms, public matches and games against the AI are all free to play.

How long do I get for each move?

Each turn has a 30-second clock, shown as a ring around your avatar. If it runs out, the game plays a move for you.

Can I play on my phone?

Yes. The board works in your phone's browser as well as on a computer.
