Party Trivia in a minute
Party Trivia is a quiz night you can hold in your living room. Each question comes with four possible answers, and everyone picks one without seeing what the others chose. Then the right answer is revealed, along with a short explanation. Multiple choice means nobody is stuck staring at a blank page, and a good guess can still win the round.
How to play Party Trivia
At home you need a quizmaster with a list of questions, and at least two players or teams. Give each player paper and a pen, or four cards marked A, B, C and D to hold up.
- Prepare the questions. Write each question with four answers, only one of them right. Mix easy and hard ones across a few topics.
- Read the question and the four answers. Read everything twice, slowly. Players may not look anything up.
- Everyone answers in secret. Players write a letter or keep a card face down until the quizmaster calls for answers.
- Reveal the answer. Show the cards together, read the right answer and explain it. Each correct answer scores one point.
- Total up after the last question. The highest score wins. House rules vary on ties, and a single tie-break question is the usual fix.

Playing Party Trivia online
Online, the room is the quizmaster, so everybody gets to play. The same question and four answers appear on every phone. Each player taps one, and once it is locked in it cannot be changed. Nobody sees anyone else's pick until the reveal, which comes as soon as everyone has answered or when the 90-second timer runs out.
The reveal shows the right answer, a short explanation, who picked what and the updated scores. A correct answer is worth one point, and a player who runs out of time is skipped for that question. The host moves the room on. Matches last 5, 10 or 15 questions for 2 to 8 players, drawn from general knowledge, science, geography, history, food or a mix of everything.
In the same room, half the fun is groaning at the reveal together. Apart, use the room's built-in video call or your usual FaceTime or Zoom call, and share the room link so everyone answers on their own screen.
Tips and house rules
- Rule out the answers you know are wrong first. With two left, a guess is a coin toss you can win.
- Phones down for searching. Agree on it before the first question.
- For mixed ages, let children pick the category for a round, or pair each child with an adult.
- In a big group, play in teams of two or three that agree on one answer each round.
- Take turns choosing the category for each match so everyone gets a topic they like.
- Add a bonus round of questions about the people in the room, written by the host.
Party Trivia FAQ
How do you play trivia at a party?
One person reads a question with four possible answers and everyone picks one in secret. After the reveal, each correct answer scores a point. The highest total after the last question wins.
How many players can join?
The online room takes 2 to 8 players. At home, bigger groups can split into teams and answer together.
Is Party Trivia suitable for kids?
Yes. The questions are written for all ages and stick to facts that do not go out of date. Younger players can team up with an adult.
Can I change my answer?
Not in the online room. Your first tap locks your answer in, so think before you tap. You have 90 seconds per question.
Can you play Party Trivia on Zoom or FaceTime?
Yes. Share the room link on your call, or turn on the video call built into the room. Each player answers on their own screen, so nobody can see the others' picks.

Yes. The room is free in any browser, with no app to download and no account to create.
