Sudoku in a minute

Sudoku is a 9×9 logic puzzle. Every row, column and 3×3 box must hold the digits 1 to 9 exactly once. Solve alone, or race a friend on separate copies of the same puzzle.

  1. Choose an empty cell.
  2. Enter a digit from 1 to 9.
  3. Use the row, column and box to rule out numbers that cannot fit.
  4. In a race, finish your own grid before your opponent finishes theirs.

In a race both players get the same puzzle and can see each other's progress, but not each other's numbers. The first correct grid wins. The visual guide walks through the rules.

What's at the table

The rules are the same as on paper. Every row, column and 3×3 box holds 1 to 9 once. The room adds what you need to play it with someone else.

Race or solve together

In Challenge, each player solves their own copy and the first to finish wins. In Together, everyone writes into one shared grid.

Live progress

During a race you see how many cells each player has filled. Their numbers stay hidden.

Four difficulty levels

Choose Easy, Medium, Hard or Expert before you start. Both players see the choice and get the same puzzle.

Notes and erase

Switch to notes to pencil in candidates, and erase a cell when a guess goes wrong.

Invite in one tap

Share or copy the room link from the table. Your friend joins from their own browser, with no account.

See each other while you play

Start a video call from the table if you want to watch your friend's face as they fall behind. Cameras are optional.

Chat and quick emoji

In a private room, send a message or a reaction without leaving the grid.

A running score

The table keeps score across rounds, so a rematch has something riding on it.

Before you play

Can two people play Sudoku together online?

Yes. Create a two-player room and send the invite link. Race on separate copies of the same puzzle, where the first correct finish wins, or switch to Together and solve one grid as a team.

Can the other player see my numbers?

No. In a race each board is private. Only how many cells each player has filled is shared.

Can I play Sudoku by myself?

Yes. Solve solo for the standard 9×9 game, or try Daily Sudoku for a date-based puzzle with an archive.

Do I need to download anything?

No. Sudoku runs in the browser on a computer, tablet or phone, with no account.

Is it free?

Yes. Solo puzzles, private rooms and public races are all free to play.
